All about Bernedoodles

ORIGIN

The Bernedoodle was firstly created by crossing the two purebreds, the first one is the Bernese mountain dog, and the second one is the poodle. it is officially claimed that Sherry Rupke  crossed the Bernese mountain dog and the poodle in 2003 in Canada.

They quickly rose to popularity for their cute & playful personality & also for being hypoallergenic.

TEMPERAMENT

Bernedoodles are known for their intelligence, affection, sociability and goofy cheerful attitudes. They are cute, loyal, friendly, even tempered, gentle and kind. This combination of traits makes them ideal candidates for service, therapy or assistance dogs as well as wonderful family companions.

Bernedoodles come from two highly people-oriented breeds, this breed is definitely on the list of family-friendly pets.

Affectionate and playful, Bernedoodles are a perfect family pet. They are especially fond of younger kids and provide a wonderful lifelong companion as children grow into adults. Though they're intelligent pups, they tend to be goofy and love attention from their humans

While they may be friendly and gentle, the Bernedoodle just might be too friendly and gentle to guard the house when you're away. Bernedoodles are not known to be noisy, and in fact, they bark infrequently.

THE PARENTS

POODLE

Poodles can be found in documentation dating back to the early 14th century in Europe, and it's believed that they were introduced in North America in the late 17th century. The American Kennel Club officially recognized the breed in 1887 as one of the first registered dog breeds.

Poodles are among the smartest dog breeds. Their intelligence and eagerness to please make them great service dogs. Poodles are also employed as guide dogs, assistance dogs for people with other physical disabilities, and therapy dogs.

Poodles are extremely intelligent and are easily trained. They are agile and graceful as well as smart, and they enjoy and excel in a variety of canine sports, including agility, obedience, and tracking.

BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG

Bred from crosses of Mastiffs and guard-type breeds, Bernese Mountain Dogs were brought to Switzerland by the Romans 2,000 years ago. Their name was derived from the Canton of Bern in Switzerland where the dogs lived.

Bernese mountain dogs, known as "Berners" to their fans, are beloved for their sweet, calm, easygoing nature and their devotion to their families, including small children. Big and strong Berners, which historically helped with farming duties in Switzerland, are able to pull carts and act as guard dogs. When they're not working or playing, these smart, loyal dogs are happiest at their owner's side, wherever that may be.

The Bernese mountain dog is patient, calm, affectionate, and a great pet for families, as well as a very attentive mother.

Berners love their people and will follow them from room to room. They also love being in your lap snuggling despite their large size. We like to call them “gentle giants “ ;)
